You can install an alarm that runs on electricity, but you should have a battery backup just in case of power outages.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Location<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>You should install smoke alarms on every floor of your home, especially outside of sleeping areas. Smoke rises, so it\u2019s best to install them on the ceilings, otherwise, as high up on the wall as possible. If they don\u2019t, change the battery and test it again.
