Common Home Insurance Myths Debunked

Homeowners Insurance Facts

Even though homeowners insurance is one of the most common types of insurance policies, it is also one of the most misunderstood. Many people believe that once they invest in a home insurance policy, they are covered from any peril. Make sure that you know the truth about these common home insurance myths to ensure that you find the right amount of coverage for your needs.

  • Replacement cost – if any of your belongings are damaged or destroyed during a covered peril, the replacement cost clause in your home insurance policy will cover the cost to replace the item with a new model that has similar features, no matter what condition the item was in before the damage occurred.
  • Loss of use coverage – if you are not able to stay in your house while it is being repaired, your loss of use coverage will cover your costs to rent a hotel or apartment while your house is being fixed. Keep in mind that loss of use coverage has strict limits of how much your policy will pay for and for how long.
  • Floods – typical homeowners insurance policies will not provide any coverage for damage that is done to your house during a flood. Only a specific flood insurance policy will provide coverage. It is important to keep in mind that flood insurance policies have a 30 day waiting period before they will start providing coverage, so the sooner you invest in a policy, the sooner you will be protected.

Cover Your Assets With The Right Umbrella Insurance Policy

Umbrella Insurance Coverage

Just like an umbrella will provide protection for inclement weather, a personal umbrella insurance policy will provide coverage for any disastrous situations that you find yourself in. The additional liability protection that is provided by an umbrella insurance policy will help to ensure that you are not left financially devastated after one incident. Keep these tips in mind to help you find the right policy that will fit with all of your needs.

  • High coverage – in order to qualify for an umbrella insurance policy, many companies will require that you carry high coverage limits with your existing auto and homeowners insurance policies.
  • High deductible – when you invest in a personal umbrella insurance policy, your overall insurance costs will increase. By raising your deductible, you will be able to lower your monthly premium costs. Just make sure that you choose a deductible cost that you can afford at any time.
  • Compare policies – one of the best ways to ensure that you are getting the right price for your umbrella insurance policy is to compare policies. Working with an independent insurance company can help to make this much easier since they will do the comparison shopping for you.
  • Bundle – bundling your umbrella insurance policy with your other existing policies, such as your home and auto insurance can help you save money since you are investing in multiple policies with the same company.
  • Think of your toys – if you own any toys, such as a snowmobile, boat, or motorcycle, you will need separate insurance policies for each item, as well as your umbrella insurance policy to ensure that you have the right amount of coverage.

Keeping Your Business Safe From Theft

Business Theft Prevention

No matter the size of your business or what type of business you run, you are vulnerable to criminal activity, including theft. While most business owners only consider burglary as the main theft threat, your employees can also be a source of theft. Knowing how to protect your business and assets from both internal and external theft threats can help to ensure your success. Keep these theft prevention tips in mind to keep your company safe.

  • Sound the alarm – investing in an alarm system is one of the best ways to prevent an outside thief from making their way into your business. There are many types of alarms that are available, from a standard security alarm to a full-service alarm system that includes motion detectors and window sensors.
  • Turn on the lights – burglars are much more likely to attack a business that is in the shadows since they will have more places to hide. Install outside sensor lighting, as well as emergency lights inside your business to keep your company well lit.
  • Lock up – having strong doors and locks is one of the best defenses. All of your exterior doors should have steel frames and deadbolts to help prevent burglars from making their way inside.
  • Uncover employee theft – the more processes that you have in place to uncover any insider thefts, the better. Frequent audits are one of the best ways to make sure that any issues are caught as soon as possible. You should also establish a process to allow employees to report any crimes that they see without fear of reprisal.

Investing in the right business insurance policies can help to make sure that your business is protected from any unfortunate situation. Contact All Nevada Insurance in Las Vegas, Nevada for all of your commercial insurance needs.

When Should You Invest In Life Insurance?

Life Insurance Through The Years

Life insurance is meant to provide financial stability for your loved ones when you pass away, which is why most people assume that they only need a policy once they start raising a family. However, life insurance can provide protection for people of all ages.

One of the major benefits of investing in a life insurance policy while you are young is so that you can enjoy much lower premiums. Your premiums are based off of how healthy you are and how likely you are to pass away. While you are younger and healthier, you will be able to qualify for a policy with lower rates than you may be able to as you age. If you invest in a whole life policy while you are young, you will never have to worry about your rates rising.

Just because you invest in a life insurance policy when you are young does not mean that you should never take another look at your coverage. As you enter different stages of your life, from getting a new job to having children, you will want to update your life insurance coverage to make sure that it is still working its best for you. The more dependents you have, and the bigger the financial portfolio you have, the more coverage you should invest in to make sure that you are properly protected.

If you have a strong retirement plan, you may be able to save money into your golden years by lowering your life insurance coverage. If you have built up your savings and assets to allow you to live comfortably into retirement, while also being able to provide financial security for your loved ones, you can drop your coverage completely, or simply lower your coverage amount to save money on your premiums.

When looking for the right life insurance policy, no matter what stage of your life you are in, contact All Nevada Insurance in Las Vegas, Nevada.

Quick And Healthy Recipe For A School Night

The back to school season is here, which means your nights are probably full of after school activities and homework, leaving very little time for a healthy dinner. Luckily, there are many healthy recipes that can be thrown together in no time. Keep this quick and easy chicken and zucchini enchiladas recipe in mind that the whole family will love.

Ingredients:

  • 1 jar mild green salsa
  • ½ cup low fat sour cream
  • 2 cups cilantro
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • 3 small zucchini
  • 2 cloves of garlic
  • 1 teaspoon coriander
  • ½ teaspoon chili powder
  • Kosher salt
  • 4 ounces Muenster cheese
  • Small rotisserie chicken
  • 8 small yellow corn tortilla
  • chopped white onion

Directions:

  1. Heat your oven to 400 degrees. Puree the cilantro and salsa in a food processor until smooth. Add the sour cream and pulse to combine. Spread 1 cup of the salsa mixture in a 9 by 13-inch baking dish. Transfer the remaining mixture into a medium bowl.
  2. Heat the olive oil in a large skillet over medium heat. Add the garlic and cook for about 1 minute. Add the zucchini and cook, tossing for 1 minute. Stir in the coriander, chili powder, and add 1 teaspoon salt. Remove from the heat. Add the chicken and ¾ cup Muenster cheese and mix to combine.
  3. Wrap the tortillas in a double layer of damp paper towels and microwave until soft, about 1 minute. Working with one tortilla at a time, dip in the reserved salsa mixture and shake off any excess. Place on a cutting board, top with ½ cup of the filling, roll up, and place seam side down in the baking dish. Repeat with the remaining tortillas and filling.
  4. Spoon any of the remaining salsa mixture on the top. Sprinkle with the remaining ¼ cup of cheese and bake until the cheese begins to brown, about 12 to 15 minutes. Serve with chopped cilantro and onion, and enjoy!

Get Your House Ready For Fall With These Tips

Fall Home Maintenance

Although there is still a full month left of summer, right now is the best time to make sure that your house is ready for the fall and winter seasons. Before the weather starts to cool down too much, make your way through this fall home maintenance checklist.

  • Clean your gutters – clogged rain gutters can lead to serious roof and wall damage when the rainy season comes around. Clean out any fallen leaves or other debris and make sure that your downspout is facing away from the foundation of your house to prevent any water damage.
  • Check your roof – while you are cleaning out your rain gutters, it is the perfect time to look at your roof to see if there is any damage. Missing or damaged shingles could be a sign that there is a more serious issue with your roof. Make any necessary repairs to your roof as soon as possible to ensure that your roof will keep your house safe through fall and winter.
  • Inspect your seals – take a look at the seals around your doors and windows and make sure that all the weather stripping is in good condition. Replace any weather stripping that is missing or damaged to help keep your house at a comfortable temperature all season long.
  • Hire a professional – since your furnace has not been used in many months, you may run into some issues the first time you turn it on. Hire a professional to take a look at your furnace to ensure that it is working properly.

Most importantly, take a look at your homeowners insurance policy to make sure that it is providing the right amount of coverage for the upcoming season. Contact All Nevada Insurance in Las Vegas, Nevada for all your home insurance needs.
