In January 2016, we were once again privileged to sponsor the Annual Lady Luck Invitational Gymnastics meet at the South Point Casino!
South Point Hotel’s Exhibit Hall welcomed the Lady Luck Invitational from January 16th to January 18th. It showcased young elite gymnasts from around the country, including Las Vegas’ Brown’s Gymnastics! Fans had the opportunity to see more than 1,200 youth gymnasts along with up-and-coming Olympic competitors.

17th Annual Lady Luck Invitational
On January 17, 2016, we once again were excited to have sponsored the 17th Annual Lady Luck Invitational. This is the state’s largest gymnastics competition, which featured gymnasts from all over the United States, as well as gymnasts from a few other countries.

- Check the brakes!

- Clean the outside of your battery with baking soda, water, and a little elbow grease

Healthy Recipe for the New Year!
Enjoy this vegetable soup for a hearty and healthy meal.
If you’re looking to trim down after the indulgences of Christmas and the holidays, soup is a classic dish to turn to! Not only is this garden vegetable soup vegetarian, but it’s packed full of nutrients, boasts warmth, and offers leftovers that will see you throughout the week!
Throw together this perfect midweek soup tonight:
Ingredients:
- 4 tablespoons olive oil
- 2 cups chopped leeks, white part only (from approximately 3 medium leeks)
- 2 tablespoons finely minced garlic
- 2 cups carrots, peeled and chopped into rounds (approximately 2 medium)
- 2 cups peeled and diced potatoes
- 2 cups fresh green beans, broken or cut into 3/4-inch pieces
- 2 quarts chicken or vegetable broth
- 4 cups peeled, seeded, and chopped tomatoes
- 2 ears corn, kernels removed
- 1/4 cup packed, chopped fresh parsley leaves
- 1 to 2 teaspoons freshly squeezed lemon juice
- Salt and pepper to taste
Directions:
- Heat the olive oil in large, heavy-bottomed stockpot over medium-low heat. Once hot, add the leeks, garlic, and a pinch of salt. They should soften after approximately 7 to 8 minutes. Add the carrots, potatoes, and green beans and continue to cook for 4 to 5 more minutes, stirring occasionally.
- Add the stock, increase the heat to high, and bring to a simmer. Once simmering, add the tomatoes, corn kernels, and pepper. Reduce the heat to low, cover, and cook until the vegetables are fork tender, approximately 25 to 30 minutes. Remove from heat and add the parsley and lemon juice. Season, to taste, with salt.

Welcome to 2016! Now that the new year is here, it’s time to do some reorganizing, restocking, and reviewing! It’s easy (sometimes a little too easy) to fall into complacency when it comes to your insurance coverage. After all, it’s easier to renew than review.
To get into the habit of doing an annual checkup, schedule it for the beginning of the year as it marks a fresh start and the means to continue! Not only does reviewing mean you are finding the best rate for your policy, but it’ll highlight gaps in coverage, missing discounts you’re eligible for, and coverage for additional items.
Additions
Have you converted the barn into a bedroom? Did you receive a high-value piece of jewelry under the tree at Christmas? Is your teenager about to start learning to drive? Any new additions to your home, car, or possessions, should be covered.
A new pool or a renovated kitchen requires your homeowners insurance policy to be updated. As your policy covers expenses to rebuild your home today, if the value of your home increases, your insurance needs to, too. Furthermore, a new pool or hot tub increases your liability risk of someone injuring themselves and filing a lawsuit against you. This requires additional coverage.
Similarly, home possessions will be covered by homeowners insurance, up to a certain limit. If your expensive TV, family heirloom or sporting equipment exceed this limit, additional personal property coverage must be attained in order for these pieces to be protected.
If you’re driving more miles each day, your auto insurance should be updated. If your teenager is about to learn to drive, he or she will need to be added to your policy!

Celebrate NYE in Las Vegas Style!
Looking for last minute New Year’s Eve plans?
New Year’s Eve is an extraordinary time to be in Las Vegas! See out the old and ring in the new, the Las Vegas way! New Year’s Eve in Las Vegas is always packed on Vegas strip and at the end of the year, it’s no different! There is a unique vibe and the air is electric leading up to the countdown.
The Strip
An entire 4 miles of the Vegas strip, from Russell to Sahara, which covers all hotels from Mandalay Bat at the Strip’s southern end to Stratosphere at the north will be closed down to traffic starting at around 6 p.m. Las Vegas New Year’s eve 2016 will include a spectacular fireworks show! Bear in mind that if you plan to celebrate indoors, around 11 p.m., the hotels stop letting people in.

As the clock strikes midnight, fireworks will be released from seven different casino rooftops! Besides the Vegas strip, the SkyFall Lounge in Delano Las Vegas, or the Foundation Room atop Mandalay Bay are good viewing spots!
