A Scary Vegas Halloween Celebration

Halloween is right around the corner, and for the young at heart the place to enjoy a Halloween celebration is in a place that knows how to throw a party and that’s Vegas.

Las Vegas will offer up special Halloween celebrations at all of their local hotels and many of the local restaurants. Here are a few of the many Halloween themed Vegas events that will be taking place during the month.

Costume Contests

A few of the costume parties being thrown during October and even into November include a $20,000 costume contest being thrown by the Bellagio Bank on November 3rd, a three day Halloween celebration will take place at Carlo’s n Charlies at the Flamingo. This three day event features a Masquerade Ball, contests and other events from October 31st through November 2nd.

Frightful Experiences

For that zombie experience head on over to the Paris Las Vegas and take a chance on the Eiffel Tower experience if you dare. There will be zombies acting as tower ambassadors, scary décor and devilish surprises.

Forget the movie; be a part of the live experience that has everyone talking, Evil Dead 4D the musical event at Miracle Mile, where for a price…on a Friday or Saturday night you can see why critics and fans alike say this is the one musical painting the Vegas strip bloody.

Las Vegas residents may find it frightful when they have questions without answers about their concerns over the right insurance, but if they just picked up the phone and contacted All Nevada Insurance, they wouldn’t be quite so frightened.

Halloween Tips for Homeowners

Every year homeowners put themselves at some degree of risk by hosting Halloween parties and by handing out Halloween treats to neighborhood kids. Here are some safety tips for homeowners who want to minimize those risks.

  • Keep the exterior of your home well lit.
  • Remove any decorations that may impair the path of guests or visitors.
  • Keep wet leaves from accumulating on walkways.
  • Only hand out factory packaged candies and treats.
  • Have a plan for Halloween party guests who may drink too much alcohol.
  • Keep your pets away from guests and trick-or-treaters.
  • Don’t use candles in jack-o-lanterns. Use glow sticks or a battery operated light  instead.

Of course if you have little trick or treaters yourself, you’ll want to make sure costumes fit well and they can see clearly through masks. Check their candy and provide glow sticks or flashlights when they go out. Also make sure they are accompanied by an adult.

Condo Owners Insurance: What’s not covered?

Condo owners insurance is a good idea for anyone who owns or rents a condo in Nevada. While it may be required by the homeowners association (HOA), condo owners need to be careful about the type of policy they choose. They should also look through their policy and understand what is not covered under their policy.

A number of losses are not covered under these policies. Damage caused by domestic animals, insects, or birds, for example, is not covered. Further, damage caused by nuclear hazard, contamination, deterioration, or settling is also not covered. Condo owners may be interested to know that an earthquake or mudslide, as well as water damage caused by underground water or flood are all not covered.

Personal liability coverage is part of many plans, but some loss is not covered under this provision. Loss resulting from providing or not providing professional services, business activities, or property damage or bodily injury that’s intended or expected by the policyholder is not covered. Additionally, loss that results from use, operation, ownership of maintenance of certain watercraft, motor vehicles, and aircraft is also not covered.

Back to School: Update Your Child’s Auto Insurance

It’s back to school time and for parents, that means more than ensuring their child has all of their supplies and books. Whether your child is in high school or in college, if they are driving it is definitely time to update their auto insurance policy.

For high school students who drive the family car, or even those who have their own car, they are likely on your insurance policy. To maintain the same monthly premium or possibly lower the premium, ask your agent about possible discounts. Many insurers offer good driver programs that lower monthly premiums and many also offer discounts for good grades or for being on the honor roll. If your child has not been involved in an accident or has not had any traffic violations, and they also have maintained good grades, it’s time to lower your bill.

The same can be done with college students. Some insurers allow students living on-campus to remain on their parent’s policy. If this is the case, check to see if the same discounts are available to them.

What do I need to know if I’m moving?

If you’re moving, you want to make sure your insurance moves with you. Don’t just assume it will, because that can get you into financial trouble. Whether it’s homeowners insurance or business insurance, it needs to be transferred to your new location. Working with your insurance agent is the best way to handle that. You can coordinate everything so you’re covered at your old location right up until you leave it, while you’re moving, and then at your new location when you arrive.

You really can’t be too careful, especially if your move is a long distance one or you have a lot of expensive or hard to replace items. While insurance can’t guarantee that you won’t have an accident or your items won’t be damaged, you can make sure that you’re protected financially from anything that might happen during your trip. Moving is stressful enough, but having the peace of mind that comes with proper insurance can make it easier.

Tips for Cleaning Up After a Flood

When flooding occurs, it can be physically and emotionally devastating. It’s also a problem financially if you don’t have the proper coverage. That’s why flood insurance is so important, because it covers what your standard homeowners policy doesn’t. Even with the right coverage, though, you’ll need to be careful after a flood. Don’t go back until authorities say it’s safe to do so, and check for any structural damage before you go inside the dwelling.

Keep the power off until everything has been dried out and inspected by an electrician. Don’t risk a severe shock. It’s not just electrical that can be an issue. You’ll also need to have everything inspected in order to make sure there’s not a gas leak. When you start to clean up, protect yourself. Wear gloves and heavy boots. Protect your skin and your eyes. If you have any open cuts, scrapes, or other injuries, keep them clean and away from any contaminated water. Any of your belongings that were touched by the floodwaters should be discarded or sterilized.

Tips for RV Roof Maintenance

Summer vacation’s over, so, it’s time to put away the RV until next year’s travels. One important thing you can do to make sure that your RV is ready to go when you are is to keep up with proper RV roof maintenance. To keep your family’s home away from home in tip top shape:

  • Clean thoroughly about four times a year. This will keep dirt, sap and leaves from causing excess wear. If you park under a tree, clean more often and debris can accumulate more quickly.
  • Check all the seams twice a year. Inspect the RV thoroughly to avoid leaks. If your RV’s roof’s seams are damaged, consult a professional to avoid costly water damage.
  • If your roof is made out of rubber, apply a protective treatment after your vehicle is washed and inspected. This can help extend your RV’s life and avoid costly repairs.
  • Check the refrigerator and holding tank vents regularly. They should be undamaged and free of obstructions.
